I was an assistant puppeteer for The Muppets (Disney) as they opened the 90th Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade.
I was one of many talented puppeteers who were a part of "Once Upon a Sesame Street Christmas" on HBO.
Spencer Lott is a puppeteer, actor, writer and director. Recent performance highlights include Trusty Sidekick Theater Company's Up and Away and The Boy at the Edge of Everything at Lincoln Center Education and Sinking Ship Production's Powerhouse at the New Ohio Theater. Additional performances with Trusty Sidekick include The 7 ½ Mysteries of Toulouse McClane and The Haunting of Ichabod Crane at the Park Avenue Armory. As a puppeteer he has performed on America's Got Talent, Good Morning America, and is one of the assistant puppeteers on Sesame Street. Upcoming: Spencer will direct Campfire at Lincoln Center Education in April of 2017.
Spencer Lott co-wrote and directed the short puppet film, Melvin the Birder, for Heather Henson’s Handmade Puppet Dreams which screened at BAM in the 2014 Puppets on Film Festival. Melvin the Birder won the Audience Award for Best Oregon Short (2014) and is the recipient of a PDN Photo Annual award (2014). Other directing credits include Being Flynn (Spring Street Social Society), All We Have Left (workshop) at the O'Neill Theater Center, The House of Atreus (Multicultural Theater Initiative), Campfire (Trusty Sidekick Theater Co.) and Zwerge (Little Shadow Productions). His original play Blossom was awarded a 2015 Jim Henson Foundation Seed Grant and will have its world premiere at Dixon Place in September of 2016.
Spencer's recent design credits include puppet design for Up And Away (Trusty Sidekick Theater Company), Scarecrow - Lyric Music Video (Alex and Sierra/X-Factor), Turning the Glass Around (Teatro Circulo) and the World Premiere of Molly Shannon’s Tilly the Trickster (Atlantic for Kids). Spencer has built or designed puppets for The Frank Agency (KC), The Park Avenue Armory Ed. Dept, The New Theater Restaurant, The Lawrence Arts Center, and Tallgrass Brewing Company.
Spencer is an Artistic Manager with Trusty Sidekick Theater Company and with them has performed in Off the Map, The Boy at the Edge of Everything (reading New Victory Labworks/La Jolla Playhouse DNA Series), The 7 1/2 Mysteries of Toulouse McClane, The Haunting of Ichabod Crane, Campfire and Up and Away. He has been an Emerging Artist at the O’Neill National Puppetry Conference and along with collaborator Liz Hara is the first recipient of the Jim Henson Foundation Residency at the Eugene O'Neill Theater Center for their new play All We Have Left. He has been a Works in Progress Artist at the Children's Museum of the Arts, a Guest Artist for Theater Development Fund’s Stage Door program, and is a member of the teaching artist ensemble at BAM and the New Victory Theater.
